🦦 Prayer of the Flowing Order
O Sacred Otter, keeper of currents,
Whose whiskers twitch at danger and delight—
Guide our rafts through foam and fury,
Where rocks lurk and eddies whisper lies.
Grant us paws that paddle true,
And hearts as light as your river-laugh.
Let our coolers stay full,
Our sunscreen be strong,
And our dry bags actually stay dry.
May no tent collapse in the wind,
No paddle drift into oblivion,
No trip leader wake up duct-taped to a camp chair.
Bless our beer with chill,
Our snacks with crunch,
Our portages with mercy.
And should we flip—
(and we will flip)—
Let us surface with grace,
Laughing like you,
Eyes wide,
Mouth full of river.
In riffle, rapid, and flatwater calm,
We follow you, O Otter of the Flow.
Forever sideways.
Forever soggy.
Forever yours.
